The 2006 Russell McVeagh New Zealand Schools’ Debating Championships were held in Wellington from 8 to 11 September. The Championships were won by Auckland Blue who defeated Wellington Gold debating “This House believes that the return of traditional lands is better for indigenous people than economic compensation”. The 2006 Russell McVeagh New Zealand Schools’ Debating Team was also named at the tournament, and they will travel to South Korea in February 2007 to compete in the World Schools’ Debating Championships. A full report will be posted shortly, but in the meantime the results were:
