I had the chance to watch the WSDC live, and Maria was the debater who clinched a tight and lively debate for the NZ team. She spoke passionately and movingly, and her speech was mesmerizing. My best wishes to them all.

Maria, what an absolutely incredible achievement. You are so deserving of every success that comes your way, you work so hard and are such a team player. You are a wonderful ambassador for NZ! Can’t wait to see you when you get back :)

Dwain – you are right. The team performed realy well but Maria was on fire – it’s the best I’ve ever seen her. Bill -why wasn’t she first? The reason probably isn’t best published on a blog that all the world can see. Stephen Whittington will understand – Canada 2005.

Having said that, I wouldn’t want to detract from the top speaker award given to Daniel Kaliski from South Africa. He was the best spreaker I saw during the preliminary rounds.
