Applications to be an adjudicator at the National Finals are now open
The New Zealand Schools' Debating Council has now opened applications for adjudicators for the 2026 National Finals of the New Zealand Schools’ Debating Championships.

The National Finals will this year be held from Friday 22 to Monday 25 May in Wellington.

The New Zealand Schools’ Debating Council are looking to appoint adjudicators who:

  • are experienced at judging schools’ debates;
  • can deliver articulate oral adjudications; and
  • command respect as an adjudicator.

Applications are now open until Wednesday 8 April 2026 at 6pm, and can be made here.

Applications to adjudicate will be considered by the adjudication core, and in accordance with Council's policy on the appointment of adjudicators for the National Finals (see here). In accordance with that policy there will be a feedback process for judging applicants. The feedback process will be used as a mechanism for individuals to express concerns about the suitability of an applicant to adjudicate students at the National Finals and is not a general feedback process that you may see at the university level. Feedback will open on 9 April 2026 and close at 6pm on 15 April 2026.
