Second round of applications to judge at the 2024 National Finals now open

The New Zealand Schools' Debating Council has now opened a second round of applications for adjudicators for the 2024 National Finals of the New Zealand Schools’ Debating Championships.

The National Finals will this year be held from Friday 24 to Monday 27 May in Wellington. The New Zealand Schools’ Debating Council are looking to appoint adjudicators who:

  • are experienced at judging schools’ debates;
  • can deliver articulate oral adjudications; and
  • command respect as an adjudicator.

Applications are now open until Sunday 14 April 2024 at 6pm, and can be made here.

Applications to adjudicate will be considered by the adjudication core, and in accordance with Council's policy on the appointment of adjudicators for the National Finals (see here). In accordance with that policy there will be a feedback process for judging applicants. The feedback process will be used as a mechanism for individuals to express concerns about the suitability of an applicant to adjudicate students at the National Finals and is not a general feedback process that you may see at the university level. Feedback will open on 15 April 2024 and close at 6pm on 17 April 2024.
